Wow! Another year has come and gone and I definitely didn't keep one of my resolutions for last....updating the blog more regularly...((sigh))...such is life. Well 2009 was another busy year, full of ups and downs, sadness and happiness, laughter and tears and now we look forward to a bigger and brighter year.
Diego
This year has been full of exciting new adventures for our little man. Early in the year we had to have his adenoids removed and ear tubes replaced. We have been fighting the constant battle against numerous sinus infections and are hoping that 2010 is a definitely a better year "sinus" wise for him. As a mother its amazing to watch my beautiful baby boy grow up into really a little man. He amazes us every day with his vocabulary and need for independence. He has a little bit of a stubborn streak (not sure WHERE he got that ;) ) but that's not always a bad thing. He's enjoyed immensely being able to spend so much time with his two "Tato's" and both grandmothers. Poppy (Christine's Dad) even had a chance to come down and spend some time with him!
Rudy
Rudy is still working for Heartland America and seems to be adjusting to working out of the house quite well. He has also had the opportunity to go to a number of the A&M games and was tickled pink to be able to take Diego to his first A&M game EVER! I'm sure we will be making the trek to College Station quite a few times this coming football season.
Christine
Christine is still working for ExxonMobil and loving every minute of it. While it is a very face past environment it definitely keeps her from getting bored! As she gets closer to her 2 year mark with the company, we look forward with anticipation to where/when her next assignment will be. Christine lost her Uncle Wade this year. While his death weighs heavy on all of our hearts, we know he is having a blast up in heaven listening to his big band music.
2009 was a pretty bad year health wise for Christine (3 ER trips, multiple illnesses, etc); however, we have finally gotten some answers to why she has been feeling the way she does. It turns out that like a number of her relative, Christine also has an issue with her thyroid. Now that she has started taking medication, she is feeling much better! Additionally it turns out that she also has a pretty severe case of Vitamin D deficiency. Christine is committed to getting "well" in 2010!
Trips
We took 2 big trips this year. One to Charleston, SC and the other to San Francisco, CA. We had a blast! Diego enjoyed Folly Beach near Charleston and riding the "trains" (aka cable cars) in San Fran. As a family, these were definitely the two best vacations we have taken to date. Diego and Rudy got to go to Midland and see the Great Grand Parrotts after Christmas this year (Christine has to stay home - she had strep). It was a mini family gathering of sorts since Nan, Jim, Jason, Matthew, and Christine's parents were there as well. Diego enjoyed playing with the boys (Jason and Matthew) and definitely provided entertainment for everyone include the Great Grand Parrotts!
As we start 2010, I am reminded once again how fast time flies. I know for me, my resolutions for this year are to slow down a bit, remember whats important and live more in the moment. Sometime we tend to move so fast that we lose sight of whats really important..its not the work, the money...the work success..its God, family, and friends. My hope for you, my family and friends, is that you too have a year full of memorable moments, great health and happiness.
Cheers!
The Mendoza Family
