And so the new year begins....

Well I hope this New Year is off to a good start for everyone, it has definitely been a busy one for us! As my grandmother would say, "It keeps us out of the bars and pool halls." Instead of writing all of it paragraph after paragraph I thought I would take the approach I did for the xmas letter...so here it goes....

1. Trip home for Xmas - We had a wonderful trip home for Christmas. We went to Rudy's parent's house first and spent xmas eve and day there. Fernando and family came through San Antonio on their way to Victoria and we all went out to dinner at La Fogata (one of our favorite restaurants to eat at growing up). Getting to spend some time with him and his family meant so much to me this year since my parents were not able to be here. Rudy's family really helped to make the holiday that much more bearable and I feel so blessed that they have welcomed me so wholeheartedly into their family. After xmas day we went up to Dallas to visit my aunt, uncle, cousins, and grandparents. It was nice to get to see everyone. Age has definitely had its effect on my grandparents and it was a little harder than I thought to see them like that. I guess you always think your grandparents will live forever and when you see that they do age it can be a little hard to accept. It was great for them to get to meet Diego and for Diego to get to meet them.

Thanks Mendoza and Sansone Families for the wonderful hospitality!

2. Avenue Q - Rudy and I went to see the Broadway show "Avenue Q" at one of the local theaters. It was hilarious! I would highly recommend it to everyone.

3. New Car - In January we traded in Rudy's Pontiac Grand Prix for a Mazda Speed6. It was definitely a bittersweet experience for Rudy (I was extremely happy to see the Pontiac go!)

4. Goodbyes - One of my really good friends Lena moved to Portland, OR in January. She got a great job opportunity there and it is closer to both her and her husband's family. I am definitely going to miss her but we now have an excuse to go to Portland.

5. Birthdays - Rudy and I had some really nice low key birthdays this year and are getting ready for Diego's 1st birthday on the 22nd of February!

6. Illnesses - Rudy and I have been fairly healthy this year (a small cold here or there but nothing serious). Diego came down with walking pneumonia though. Luckily we caught it in time before it got really bad and after a nice dose of zythromax and using a nebulizer 3x a day we are quickly on the mend.

7. BB King - We actually just saw him last night and boy was he great! At 82 he's still full of spunk and can definitely belt out a tune. I would definitely recommend seeing him to everyone.

Hope all is well for you guys - send us an email and let us know what's happening in your neck of the woods :)
