Diego is 8 days old today! I can't believe it's already been that long since he made his first debut. We ended up staying at the hospital for 4 days due to the fact that my blood pressure kept fluctuating so much. It ended up being a good thing as we had a winter storm 2 days after Diego was born and the roads were really messy. Everyone on the hospital staff was fabulous and by the time we left Diego had a bunch of the nurses cooing over him and his "beautiful hair".
When we got home my parents were busy shoveling snow so we could get in the driveway. Our neighbors had also put a HUGE sign in our yard with balloons announcing the birth of Diego. We feel very blessed to have such great neighbors.
Every day has been different so far. Diego seems to have a case of colic so the evenings can be pretty tricky. It's amazing how your body adjusts to the lack of sleep to keep running.
We had another snow storm last night with snow totals around 14 inches. My parents have definitely seen enough snow for this year. They were planning on leaving today however I-35 from the Minnesota border to Des Moines, Iowa has been closed due to blizzard like conditions so they are hoping to leave tomorrow morning. We're happy to have them for one more day. I can't imagine how hard these past 8 days would have been if they hadn't been here to help, plus it was great that they had the chance to spend time with him while he's so little.
